The Ukrainian Canadian Congress awards the Shevchenko Medal to Luba Zuk as an expression of acknowledgment for significant contribution and commitment to the research and publication, promotion and performance of Ukrainian and Ukrainian Canadian classical music in Canada and abroad. Luba Zuk is a pianist, musicologist, pedagogue and distinguished artist of Ukraine. She is a researcher of Ukrainian music in the diaspora, especially in Canada and the USA. She has delivered numerous public lectures, papers, and seminars in the fields of Ukrainian musicology and the history of Ukrainian music and is the author of programs for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on music topics. She is a promoter of Ukrainian paino and chamber music in concerts, on radio, television and in public performance. She is also a frequent jury panelist at international music competitions and various examination boards in Canada, Italy, Ukraine, etc. Luba Zuk has made an exceptional contributions into the cultural life of Ukrainians in Canada.
